Maryland flag features on new driver's licence


Maryland has launched a new driving licence featuring new security features and designs reflecting the state’s heritage.

 The Motor Vehicle Administration says the “completely redesigned cards” feature cutting-edge security features to protect against identity theft and counterfeiting.

The new licenses feature polycarbonate card body, laser engraving and tactile text.  MVA officials said these features will protect against forgery and make it harder for a hacker to gain personal information.

“At the motor vehicle administration, we have quite a bit of confidential and personal information. We know that identity theft is a serious crime at this point, and we want to protect our customers and their identity," said Chrissy Nizer, administrator for the MVA.

The new cards also proudly feature iconic Maryland symbols and a colorful Maryland-themed background.

Features include a changeable image, raised print, unique barcode and other features to insure identify.
