connect:ID launches call for speakers

22/09/16

The organisers of next-generation identity solutions event connect:ID 2017, Science Media Partners and the International Biometrics + Identity Association (IBIA), have announced that the Call for Speakers for the event’s fourth edition is officially open.

connect:ID 2017, which will be held from 1-3 May 2017 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, DC, is inviting applications to speak on a range of vital identity issues.

In a statement, the organisers said connect:ID’s mission in 2017 is to explore how secure identity technology is enhancing authentication, wherever it is used – from aviation and border control, to healthcare, finance, education and countless other markets.

The conference will also consider challenging issues, such as identity fraud, personal data theft, the intensification of national security threats, and cyber intrusions. Customers, employees, and citizens also need a less frustrating, yet trusted, method to authenticate their identity.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 21 October, 2016. To see more details, click here.

Key tracks that are certain to draw interest at the show include “Identity proofing and vetting in focus”, and “Building trust, confidence, and acceptance in biometric technologies”. There are also tracks exploring “Credentials for today, tomorrow and beyond”, “Achieving strong identity authentication in the online environment”, and “Comprehensive immigration reform and the role of identity technology”.

Other trends to be addressed include identity integrity and the smart phone, and how to enable secure financial transactions.

Conference Co-Chairman, Mark Lockie said: “We particularly encourage those at senior executive level, those at the forefront of research and development, market analysts, working group members, and end users or governments implementing a cutting-edge case history to apply.”

Speakers at last year’s event included Congressman Will Hurd. vice chair of the Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee, and John Wagner, deputy assistant commissioner, Office of Field Operations, US Customs and Border Protection.

The high-level political speakers were joined by renowned industry experts from the biometrics, mobile identity and secure document sectors, as well as government end users and senior private sector representatives from firms including Visa, Qualcomm and Verizon.

connect:ID is an international conference and exhibition event that unites solutions adopters and stakeholders from around the world to explore the development and fusion of multiple advanced identity technologies – including biometrics, secure credentials and mobile identity systems.

It is held annually in Washington, DC and attracts 1,250 identity and security professionals from governments and the private sector.
