French health deal for Safran Identity & Security

15/02/17

Safran Identity & Security has been selected by GIE SESAM-Vitale to develop, manufacture and personalise France’s Vitale health insurance cards.

The six-year contract will see the company supplying all the production services to ensure the delivery of the Vitale health e-cards, which insured people in France use to prove their identity so they can access healthcare services in the country.

“This new tender integrated for the first time the entire industrial scope, from the Java Card embedded software to the production of customised cards, leaving the bidders free to choose the components,” says Jacques de Varax, general manager, GIE-SESAM Vitale.

“This choice of global management of the value chain by the same actor enabled us to optimise the industrialisation process and benefit from more competitive offers. Safran Identity & Security provided the best response to all our requirements and the design phase of the cards is already under way,”

“We are pleased to place our digital expertise at the service of the health sector, a strategic area of development for us,” says Anne Bouverot, president, Safran Identity & Security. “Becoming the exclusive supplier of the Vitale cards, which are at the heart of the digitalisation of healthcare services in France, is a highly symbolic step.”

Safran Identity & Security will be exhibiting at SDW 2017 – 26-28 June 2017 in London, UK. SDW is a world-leading conference and exhibition event for those in the identity marketplace, focusing on intrinsic document security including the latest innovations in design, production and use.
