STORK looks to final meeting
02 November 2011
Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed (STORK), the project which was set up to establish EU-wide interoperability of eIDs, has invited stakeholders to its 5th and final Industry Group Meeting in Poznan, Poland on 16 November 2011, to learn how the project has made the EU one step closer to the digital single market.
The project is co-funded by the EU ICT Policy Support Programme under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), and was officially launched in May 2008. It offers an interoperable and sustainable eID authentication platform, enabling easier access to online public services across borders for citizens in EU member states. The objective was to develop and test common specifications for mutual recognition of national eID between the STORK participating countries and achieve their acceptance in many different pioneer applications. The project is scheduled to finish in December 2011 and at this meeting the STORK solution to this challenge and its long-term benefits to industry will be revealed.
Attendees of the meeting will be provided with an update on the achievements of the six STORK pilot projects and presented with demonstrations of three live pilots – Change of Address, Student Mobility and ECAS Integration – that facilitate cross-border eID services. They will also learn about examples of implementations beyond pilots that demonstrate the reliability and sustainability of the STORK solution in to the future.
STORK WP7 ‘Communication and Sustainability’ leader and executive director of Gov2u, Vasilis Koulolias states: “The STORK project has successfully united 18 countries and a total of 35 consortium partners from across the public and private sector in its goal of creating a truly interoperable, reliable and sustainable solution for the cross-border use of national electronic identities.”
The STORK Industry Group Meeting will take place on 16 November 2011, between 1400 and 1700 at the Poznan International Fair, Pavillion 15, Room 403 (Glogowska street 14, 60-734 Poznan, Poland).
